Our prenatal care looks like cozy conversations about cultivating health throughout your pregnancy. At the start, we utilize careful observation of your health (physical exams, bloodwork, ultrasounds, etc) and good conversations about your desires to ensure homebirth is ideal for you and your baby. Throughout your pregnancy, we grow comfortable with one another and dream up a lovely plan for your birth day. I integrate somatic practice technique through the second half of the pregnancy and then at the end, we remain in very close connection until the birthday arrives.
You'll be in touch with us throughout early labor and when active labor emerges, Kate and a birth assistant will come to your home to support you with kind, experienced clinical expertise. We encourage birth in all positions, home comfort techniques, waterbirth, with you directing the pace, the environment and the way you are touched. After your baby is born, we stay to help you and your baby transition and integrate the experience, nourishing you both, completing on-going assessments and staying until we know everyone is clinically stable & ready.
After your baby arrives, your midwife team will come visit you at home to support a healthy and calm transition into parenthood. Whether breastfeeding, chestfeeding or formula feeding, we'll make sure you're on the right track with nutrition. We conduct complete physical assessments and recommendations for you and baby, alongside pediatric support. We guide our families towards optimal parenthood!
I can help with annual or problem reproductive healthcare visits. My preference is to establish care in a nice long visit and be available for follow ups as your life and needs change. I can help with birth control, STI testing, pap smears, planning for pregnancy, miscarriage management and exploring menstrual concerns.
Many of my patients start with me prior to pregnancy for routine primary care - your annual exam appointment. Essentially, we sit down and discuss your health, complete a physical exam (if necessary) and mutually create a plan of care for you.
I can help with basic primary care health - anxiety, depression, thyroid challenges, eczema, common colds, etc. I like to offer both holistic and medical options for discussion and ensure whatever plan of care we co-create will fit your lifestyle.
If you are looking to optimize your health in planning a pregnancy, I encourage people to start optimizing health about six months prior to conception. If there are signs that you might have difficulty with conception, we can assess these and discuss possible testing. I can help with fertility support and work-up and holistic approaches to fertility health.
